Web goes Global
On November 16, 2009, the World Wide Web is going global. On Oct 30, 2009, at ICANN's meeting in Seoul, South Korea, ICANN formally agreed the fast track process towards the launch of "internationalized domain names." This will allow countries to apply for Internet extensions that reflect their name but -- most importantly -- these can now be written in their own character sets.
ICANN Chairman, Peter Dengate Thrush in Seoul, said - "This is only the first step, but it is an incredibly big one and a historic move toward the internationalization of the Internet. The first countries that participate will not only be providing valuable information of the operation of IDNs in the domain name system, they are also going to help to bring the first of billions more people online -- people who never use Roman characters in their daily lives."
MSN New Homepage Design
The new homepage of MSN is filled with a number of enhancements together with some previous features. It will surface content based on visitors' previous behavior. Several new ad offerings will include a more prominent 300x250 ad and synchronized rich media units. This new design is simpler and lighter than earlier versions. The logo has also been redesigned with a prominent Bing search bar at the top right of the page. The MSN butterfly, which was last designed in 2000, has also been changed slightly to give a fresher look. |
